Dr Tauseef Khan who has been discharged from the hospital on Tuesday after recovering from COVID-19, wants to get back to frontline.
Dr got infected while treating a doctor who came from Canada at the King George’s Medical University in Lucknow. He is a resident doctor at the hospital.
Dr Tauseef thinks having fought the virus himself will be very helpful in treating other patients. He told media,” I am the best person to work with coronavirus positive patients and make them understand things, because I have myself gone through it.”
On the March 11 the lady from canada was admitted to the self isolation ward and Dr Khan was part of the team. When he got some nose and throat problems his seniors got him checked for COVID-19. Dr got admitted to the isolation ward on March 17 when his Corona virus test ca positive.
When asked about working at KGMU’s isolation ward again, he said, “I will spend the 14-day isolation period at home and will be ready for duty once again.”
When asked if he was okay with being named in the media, he said, “Why not? I have defeated coronavirus and am coming out of the hospital, not from jail.”
Even during his 21 days isolation period at hospital, he kept in touch with other patients on phone and helped them deal with the disease.
“My friends outside, including doctors, kept me updated on WhatsApp with the research going on for finding a treatment for the virus, as well as on the history of patients who have successfully overcome it,” he said.
“Besides keeping me in a positive frame of mind, this information, when shared with other patients, kept them in good spirits. This free time also gave me an opportunity to prepare for the postgraduate entrance examination,” he said.
He advised those in quarantine to maintain social distancing and good sanitation, asking them to follow the doctor’s’ advice for a quick recovery.
“I thank the almighty, along with the KGMU administration, for regaining my health so quickly,” he said.
During the time when many people have been brainwashed by media and fake news, that the spread of virus in India is solely due to Tableeghi Jamati Muslims, incidents like these should open their eyes and help them come out of their biased attitude towards muslims in India.
